The Almanzora Valley is steeped in history with origins dating back to prehistoric times, through to Romans, Moors and Christians. The village of Arboleas is a municipality of Almeria province. Arboleas is a small town about 65km2 and some 278 meters above sea level on the bank of the Almanzora River, in the spurs of the Sierra de los Filabres in the Almanzora valley, one of many small settlements along the course of the river, which waters the fertile plains. It has a strong agricultural economy, producing citrus fruit, olives, almonds and cereals.
